Let The Adventure Begin...a real test of Endurance.

When it comes to Adventure sport in Ireland, The Killarney environs are the perfect location for all fun loving adventurists, who love an action packed sporting challenge.

The Killarney Adventure Race will take place on Saturday 8th October 2011, the race is a one day individual multi adventure sport race,  60KM in total. The race gives competitors the chance to run, hike, cycle and kayak some of the most dramatic, breath taking and remote scenery in the world.

The adventure begins on the foothills of The McGillycuddy Reeks, Ireland's Highest Mountain Range, with a hill run across Strickeen Mountain, competitors will then jump on the bikes and cycle up through the Gap of Dunloe and the break taking Molls Gap. If the cycle wasn’t enough a Kayak around the spectacular clear waters of Muckross Lake and a trek up Mangerton Mountain, encompassing The 'Devil's punch bowl' and Torc Waterfall will be enough to test anybody’s endurance and fitness. Cash prizes, customised medals and a well deserved BBQ await after you cross the finish line in the historical Muckross House, Killarney.

The event is being organized by one of the country’s leading outdoor adventure providers Outdoors Ireland and is supported by Fáilte Ireland. The route designer, Nathan Kingerlee of Outdoors Ireland said ‘the Killarney adventure race is going to be an amazing adventure and achievement for all competitors. In Killarney we have the facilities, awe inspiring scenery and resources to cater for all the competitors needs and I promise they will not be disappointed’.

The event organisers have assigned their own Celtic Warrior who hails from the depths of the Black Valley to promote the race. Watch out for him at events across the country through out the year where he will be giving away special accommodation offers and free entries to the race.
